Re-Visioning the Past: Guided Imagery and Memory Reconsolidation to Treat Trauma
Dr. Mau will present a two hour breakout session.
Problem-focused therapies focus on recalling past experiences to gain insight, however recent literature indicates this is not as therapeutically important as changing the current narratives about past happenings. Memory reconsolidation provides a powerful model to reactivate old memories and engage in new emotional experiences to create a new way of behaving and experiencing the world, and guided imagery is an excellent way to engage this process.

Envisioning the Future: Embracing Solution-Focused Treatment, Planning, and Motivation
Dr. Mau will present a 90 minute breakout session.
Solution-focused therapies provide a distinct approach which is substantively different from both past- oriented therapeutic approaches and psychoeducation. This session is designed to draw a sharp contrast between problem- and solution-focused approaches, with a goal of empowering clients in personalized treatment planning, building client motivation for change, and releasing counselors from the heavy burden of the past.

HypnoExpo 2022 Conference

May 13 – 15, 2022, live in Orlando, FL (also available as live interactive virtual)
Superhero Regression: The Active Wiser You
Dr. Mau will present a two hour breakout session.
What if the ways we think about hypnotic regression, and the expectations we create for our clients for this process, are really focused backwards when they can be powerfully focused forward?
Regression is a fantastic way to address trauma, but does it have to be problem-focused? This fun, substantive, interactive workshop will explore fresh solution-focused approaches to a tried-and-true hypnotic technique, and open your eyes to new ways to engage your client’s active superhero creativity and self-healing.
Traumatic or anxiety disorders engage the same neurological functionality as high hypnotic suggestibility. While talking about trauma in waking state tends to reinforce emotions of horror – usually a bad idea – dealing with them in relaxed state takes advantage of the brain’s function to mute out emotions of horror.
