July  18, 2018, Dr. Mau  participated in a panel discussion on Opioids, Opportunities, and Optimal Care in the Upstate at the Upstate Mental Health Showcase sponsored by GHS Academic Department of Psychiatry. This event provided 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.


June 26 - 27, 2018, Columbia, SC - Dr. Mau taught a two day, 12 hour workshop for Certification in Relaxation-Based Pain Relief™, in partnership with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine - Palmetto Health Continuing Medical Education Organization. This transdisciplinary activity was open to all licensed mental health and medical practitioners and was approved for: AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for physicians, National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) CEs for professional counselors, Category A CEs for psychologists, non-contact CEs for social workers, and SC Nurse Association contact hours for nurses.

February 27, 2018 - Dr. Mau provided a demonstration of hypnosis and spoke on Hypnosis for Pain Alleviation: Enchanting Relief Without Medication at the  SC Workers' Compensation Educational Association Medical Seminar in Charleston, SC.

Hypnosis is the oldest Western conception of psychotherapy. Substantive research including modern neuroimaging reveals why it is successful in the treatment of numerous psychological and medical conditions including pain management.  During this session, Dr. Mau demonstrated hypnosis and share how it is used with injured workers.



February 22-24, 2018 - Dr. Mau presented one hour breakout sessions on The Three Doors: Hypnosis for the Emotional Treatment of Anxiety Disorders and Speechless for Six Months: Hypnosis for Conversion Issues and Body Effects, and a two hour breakout session on Opioid Alternative: The Neuroscience and Practice of Hypnosis & Mindfulness in Pain Relief at the South Carolina Counseling Associations' conference in Myrtle Beach, SC.

October 10, 2017, Dr. Mau  participated in a panel discussion on Effective Opioid Managment: Balancing New Strategies with Rising Costs at the SC Workers' Compensation Educational Association Annual Educational Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC.

The panel will considered new tools and strategies continue to emerge in the quest to more effectively manage opioid use.  This session explored the appropriate use of drug testing and other tools to assess and manage opioid risk.
