The Highlands Ability Battery is the gold standard assessment for measuring human abilities. It is based on more than 70 years of research and enjoys exceptional validity and reliability ratings.
The key idea is that each individual has a core set of abilities which do not change after approximately the age of 14. When the day-to-day tasks in a career require use of core abilities, people tend to be happy and fulfilled in their work. On the other hand, if these tasks primarily require working outside of core abilities, people tend to be frustrated. If you find yourself dreading your daily work tasks, the Highlands Ability Battery may be the first step in charting a new, more fulfilling career path.
The Highlands Ability Battery itself takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete. After taking the battery, you receive a detailed written report and an 2-hour professional feedback session, which is recorded for you on CD.
Although the assessment is always the same, the data can be analyzed and provided via three different reports:
The Standard Report
This provides excellent information for adults who wish to advance their careers or are considering a career change. The Highlands Ability Battery addresses 19 core areas of human ability, including abilities which give perspective on decision making style, optimum learning styles, and preferential work environment. More information on Highlands and the standard report is available at HighlandsCo.com and HighlandsLifeAndCareerCenter.com.
The Student Report
This report includes all the information in the standard report, but it also provides an expanded look at individual learning channels and abilities. Highlands is much more than an interest inventory. By comparing your scores with the scores of more than 40,000 people who have taken the assessment, career recommendations can be made which may never have occurred to you. Highlands also helps you understand how to excel in an academic environment, select a major and move into a career you will love. More information on the student report is available at HighlandsStudentCenter.com.
The Leadership Report
This report is fundamentally different from the above reports. It focuses on leadership and interaction in team and group situations.
